After previous careers in Fashion and Beauty PR and Image Consulting, Carol Spenser founded Style Directions in 1991 to bring together these different sectors which had, to that date, operated independently. Since then, she has helped tens of thousands of women and men, including leading celebrities and political figures, discover their best style and improve their confidence through her unique brand of advice, products and service.

Carol is an informative and entertaining speaker/presenter and is in high demand for her work in the retail sector and the media world of TV, radio and journalism. She has written six best-selling books; trained hundreds of Style Consultants in the UK and abroad: introduced Personal Shopping to the UK High Street; pioneered computer-based style and colour analysis and continues today to bring new and innovative methods and concepts to the Style & Image industries.

ALISON MUNFORD

Operations Manager

After an early career in graduate recruitment and accountancy, Alison joined Style Directions in 2000 as PA to Carol and David Spenser.

Alison is responsible for the day to day running of Style Directions including liaising with fashion retailers, PR and media organisations and private clients of Carol Spenser. Over the past two years, Alison has also been closely involved in the development of the new Style Directions website, including the calculations necessary for the thousands of algorithms generated by the shape and colour tests! Alison is your direct contact at Style Directions HQ.

LUCY GARRETT

Head of Client Liaison

Lucy Garrett has a wealth of experience in the fashion industry having spent the first 14 years of her career working in buying/merchandising with the Arcadia Group. She was then instrumental in the launch of boo.com, one of the first e-tailer websites based in London and New York. Following that, Lucy headed-up sales for a leading wholesale fashion company supplying latest fashions to major UK retailers.

In 2001 she trained in Style Consultancy with Carol Spenser and since then has run her own successful company, Lucy Garrett Styling. She has provided Style Consultations for Virgin Atlantic Upper Class passengers and devised the Personal Shopping Programme for T3, Heathrow. With her background in Menswear Buying, Lucy now works closely with leading bespoke tailor, Timothy Everest, providing one-on-one consultations for her clients who included prominent businessmen, politicians and celebrities. Most recently, Lucy was appointed Assistant Stylist by Carol Spenser for the Channel 4 Wedding House Programme.

WENDY CAMPBELL

Cosmetics & Skin Care Expert

Wendy has over 20 years experience in the cosmetics industry working for some of the world’s leading international brands. She has won many prestigious awards including Christian Dior Supreme Consultant of the Year beating over 7,000 Make-Up Artists!

Wendy trained with Style Directions in 2005 and since then has developed an impressive client list of celebrity TV stars, musicians and models. She has presented colour and makeup features on Sky TV and has over 500 Bridal Makeovers under her belt.

In 2009 Wendy began developing the Colour Directions range of mineral cosmetics in conjunction with Carol Spenser and a leading New York cosmetics lab, which launched with the new Style Directions website in 2010.

NATALIE HUTCHINSON

Hair & Grooming Expert

Having trained in her late teens as a hairdresser, Natalie opened her first salon in 2003 and, seven years later, now owns three successful salons in the South-East. Having overcome many personal challenges, Natalie’s success and positive spirit was recognised in 2006 when she won the prestigious Barclays trading Places Award.

In 2007, Natalie was nominated for ‘Woman of The Year’ and met the Queen at the Achievers Reception at Buckingham Palace. She has also been recognised by the Government having consulted with Gordon Brown in 2009 on a white paper aimed at encouraging women back to work to start their own businesses – this consultancy continues regularly today with BIS (UK Department for Business and Innovation Skills).

On top of all this, Natalie is a brilliant hairdresser! She is much in demand for makeovers, weddings and society functions across the UK.

KIM FOSTER-DILLON

Costume Professional

Kim is one of the most experienced costume professionals in the UK having worked for over 25 years designing and making for a wide variety of TV and drama productions. With a degree in fashion from Berkshire College of Art & Design, Kim has worked on popular TV programmes such as The Bill, Holby City and Casualty; dramas such as The Woman in Black for Hammer Horror; numerous programmes for BBC Children's TV; and ITV commercials.

More recently, she moved into reality TV with 'Wedding House' for Channel 4 where she worked closely with the Style Directions team on design and production of many (weird and wacky!) outfits. Kim is now part of our Makeover Team for all media makeovers and fashion events requiring expert fitting and alteration.
