Carol Spenser - Managing Director

With successful careers as a fashion/beauty PR and image consultant, Carol Spenser founded her company in the early 1990’s to bridge the gap between these two very separate industries. She divides her time between journalism, television presenting, training, consultancy work and, of course, updating the Style Directions website. Contrary to expectation, Carol has the smallest wardrobe on the planet!  

David Spenser - Marketing Director

After brief spells in the crime and education businesses, David entered marketing in the early 1980’s. Specialising in development programmes (brands, communications, corporate image, new products) he has been responsible for much of the strategic development behind the Style Direction concept. Despite this, he still remains happily married to Carol. His grey highlights are the result of many hours visiting top hairstylists...  

Michelle Attlesey - Cosmetic/Colour Trainer

Originally trained in skincare and cosmetic techniques with Clinique, Michelle took further training with image consultants, First Impressions, during the 1980’s. Within Style Directions she assists Carol with trainings, seminars and makeovers as well as using the Style Directions concepts within adult-education for evening and weekend courses.  

Holbrook Studio - Fashion Consultants

Janet Holbrook and staff are responsible for the style, colour and fabric trends in the twice-yearly Fashion Directions booklet produced in conjunction with Carol Spenser. She spends her life jetting from fashion show to fashion show in Paris, Milan, New York - well, someone has to do it. The Style Directions website will advertise if her job become available but there’s a lot of life in her yet.  

Mel Ashworth, First Class

First Class is a people and business development organisation based in the Midlands. It specialises in the retail and services sectors, in particular providing support to independent retailers. Contact us if you are looking for support to improve your employees personal effectiveness, comply with legislation, meet health and safety requirements or improve customer service levels. We work with businesses to analyse particular needs and to agree the best way in which First Class can provide support. This could be training or consultancy but may be an improvement to systems or one to one coaching or support
